Copper-clad steel (CCS) stranded conductor is a bimetallic composite wire consisting of a high-strength steel core metallurgically bonded with a continuous copper outer layer. Multiple CCS single wires are concentrically stranded to form a flexible, durable conductor engineered for grounding, earthing, and power transmission applications.
A typical 7-strand CCS conductor features one central wire surrounded by six outer wires in a hexagonal arrangement. The copper cladding (6%~10% of wire diameter per ASTM B227) provides conductivity and corrosion protection, while the steel core delivers mechanical strength — up to 2–3 times that of pure copper.
